Research interests: mmWave communication, physical layer security, machine learning and optimization in wireless communication. 

For his Ph.D. research, Sopan is currently investigating techniques to implement better coordinated beam management, and tracking & localization of mobile users with Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) in 5G mmWave system.

Prior to joining WiCON, Sopan Sarkar received his BS degree from University of Chittagong (CU), Bangladesh, majoring in Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering, in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Ariful Islam. He also earned his MS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2020. During his MS, he focused on physical layer security of Bluetooth Low Energy under the supervision of Dr. Jianqing Liu.
